What were you doing prior to attending EFA?
I had been working as a Federal Officer for The Department of Homeland Security for 8 years before enrolling at Eric Fisher Academy.
How did you decide to make the switch to cosmetology?
I had a strong desire to make a career switch pretty much the whole time I was working in my previous field. I was bored and unchallenged. Cosmetology is such a fun, vibrant career and it had always appealed to me.
Why did you choose Eric Fisher Academy?
I had a friend who attended EFA in 2016 and she was always posting on social media about how much fun she was having in school and how much she was learning. That influence, paired with the fantastic reputation of EFA, made it so I never considered any other school. I'm so happy to be here!
What has been your favorite thing to learn so far?
How to customize basic cuts to better fit the guest in my chair. Subtle tweaks can make a big difference!
Who inspires you? Why?
I find inspiration all over Eric Fisher Academy. I love how all the students continuously share styles, tips, and tricks on how to make different looks work to help each other be the best we can be. The staff definitely inspires me to push myself past my comfort zone to see what I'm capable of.
Tell us about your career goals.
I definitely have big goals! For now, I'll focus on perfecting my skills and build on them with continuing education. My future goals are to become a salon owner, work behind the chair, educate others, and travel to do photo shoots. I want it all!
How would your life be different now if you hadn't switched to cosmetology school?
It's a little scary to think about this because of how happy I am now. I would probably still be waiting for my golden opportunity to have a great career that I love. Eric Fisher Academy has helped open my eyes to so many amazing possibilities and it's given me the chance to prove to myself that I've got what it takes to succeed in this incredible industry. I'm so fortunate to have the support of Eric, his staff, and my family. I know I will be a success. I definitely made the right choice by picking EFA!
